'KINTEX' to be held at the biggest game show in the Seoul metropolitan area, and the establishment of the 3rd Battle Market has been confirmed

The establishment of the "KINTEX Third Battle Market," a long-cherished project in the MICE industry, has been confirmed. With the construction of the KINTEX 3rd Battle Market, Gyeonggi Province expected the economic ripple effect totaling 6.4 trillion won per year and the job creation effect of 30,000 people.

The Ministry of Strategy and Finance passed a preliminary feasibility study on building a third war market on July 15. Accordingly, Gyeonggi Province, Goyang City and KOTRA will make joint efforts to expedite the project quickly and smoothly.

Emphasizing "special compensation for special sacrifices," Gyeonggi Province Gov. Lee Jae-myung said, "Koyang is very close to Seoul and has the greatest effect or benefit from improving inter-Korean relations," adding, "We should allow northern Gyeonggi Province to have hope and vision, with the focus of Goyang, to escape from its isolation and sorrow."

KINTEX is a comprehensive war market designed to foster Korea as an Asian trading hub under the government's "Planning to Build a Comprehensive Exhibition Market in the Capital Region" and currently has a combined exhibition space of 108,000 square meters.

However, as five large electricity markets with 200,000 square meters or more have been built in China and India in the past three years, many of the planned global exhibitions in Asia have been attracted to China, not Korea, and there have been calls for the establishment of a third war market.

Fortunately, the construction of the GTX-A (Paju-Samsung) in December last year drastically improved the surrounding transportation infrastructure and detailed plans to develop large-scale complexes such as Ilsan Techno Valley and Broadcasting and Video Valley, thus securing business feasibility and passing the government's preliminary investigation.

The third electric market will be built on the side of the current first and second electric markets with an exhibition area of 79,90 square meters and a floor area of 319,730 square meters.

The total project cost will total 489.1 billion won, including 143.7 billion won in state funds and 145.3 billion won in dope expenses, and the construction will begin sometime next year with the goal of opening in 2024, and the construction will be carried out by 2023.

Gyeonggi Province expects the third war market to make it possible to attract large-scale exhibitions around the world, making northern Gyeonggi Province a center for high value-added industries and South Korea a global exhibition and convention hub.

On the other hand, as KINTEX becomes wider, game events are expected to be more diverse.

Gyeonggi Province hosts PlayX4 at KINTEX every year, the largest game show in the Seoul metropolitan area. The "Dungeon and Fighter Festival," the largest single game show in Korea, was also held at KINTEX last year, with 5,000 users attending.
