Sales of mobile games in Korea surpassed 4.2 trillion won last year.5.2% growth


The size of the local mobile game market in Nanhae has surpassed 4.2 trillion won, the survey showed.

According to a report released by iGeworks, a mobile big data platform company, it is estimated that total sales of mobile game markets (Google Play, Apple App Store and One Store) in South Korea last year amounted to 4.28 trillion won, up 5.2 percent from 4.74 trillion won in 2018.

On a monthly basis, NCsoft's "Lineage 2M" has risen sharply since late November last year when it was launched.

By app market, Google Play topped the list with 78.6 percent, or 3.37 trillion won, followed by One Store (12.2 percent, 523 billion won), and Apple App Store (9.2 percent, 393.5 billion won).

By company, NCsoft had the highest market share with 21.5 percent, followed by Netmarble with 11.7 percent, Nexon with 5.1 percent, Kakao Games with 3.0 percent and Supercell with 2.6 percent, the data showed.

A monthly average of 19.61 million people enjoyed mobile games, while the gender ratio for men and women was about the same at 51:49.

The average game time was tallied at 29.3 hours per month, and by generation, people in their 30s recorded 44.1 hours, the longest.

By game genre, "Rollfling," which includes the "Lineage" series, accounted for 52.4 percent of the total.
